Going nowhere fast in education

Do we really need a system of 12 years of school education and 3-4 years of college education to prepare people for a working life?

Does our education system impart the skills required for people to meet the requirements of the workplace?

Why do people have to spend so much money on supplemental education – to get into college or to get a first job?

Why is quality education so darn tough to get in India?  And why does it take so long?

We ‘re stuck at a Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) of 10-15%.  Trying to scale up our existing model is pretty unlikely to work – unless we’re willing to wait till 2100!

How would you change the way we think about education in this country?
